Intel Core m3-8100Y

Az Intel Core m3-8100Y egy, az Amber Lake generáción alapuló, nagyon hatékony kétmagos SoC táblagépeknek és passzív hűtésű notebookoknak, amelyet 2018-ban mutattak be. A CPU két processzor magból áll 1.1 - 3.4 GHz-es órajelen. A Hyper Threading-nek köszönhetően a processzor akár négy szálat is képes egyidejűleg futtatni. A chip az Intel HD Graphics 615 GPU-t is magába foglalja, valamint egy kétcsatornás memóriavezérlőt (DDR3L/LPDDR3) és VP9 és H.265 videó kódolót/dekódolót.  A Kaby Lake-Y elődökhöz (pl. Core m3-7Y32) képest az Amber Lake ugyanazt az architektúrát használja a továbbfejlesztett 14nm+ FinFET eljárásban (nem 14nm++), viszont nagyobb órajelekre képes nagyobb TDP-vel.

Architektúra

Az Intel alapvetően a Skylake / Kaby Lake generáció ismerős mikroarchitektúráját használta, így a MHz-enkénti teljesítmény azonos.

Teljesítmény

Az Y sorozat teljesítménye nagyban függ a laptop / táblagép hűtőrendszerétől és a hosszantartó terhelésre használt TDP beállításoktól. Ezért egy Core m3 és egy i7 közötti különbségek csekélyek lehetnek, ha a hőkezelés nagyon korlátozott. Az Amber Lake nagy Turbó órajelei viszont nagyon jó egyszálas teljesítményt eredményezhetnek rövid intervallumokban.

Grafika

Az integrált Intel HD Graphics 615 GPU 24 végrehajtó egységgel (Execution Units, EU) rendelkezik, mint a régi HD Graphics 515, és ezzel a processzorral kombinálva 300 és 950 MHz közötti órajeleken fut. A teljesítmény nagyban függ a TDP korláton és a memória konfigurációján is, mert gyors LPDDR3-1866 RAM-mal kétcsatornás módban a GPU időnként felveheti a versenyt a HD Graphics 520-szal, ugyanakkor más körülmények között jóval lassúbb is lehet. 2016 modern játékai, ha egyáltalán, akkor csak a legalacsonyabb beállításokon fognak simán futni.

A Skylake-kel szemben a Kaby Lake és Amber Lake most támogatja a H.265/HEVC Main10-es hardver dekódolást 10 bites színmélységgel, valamint a Google's VP9 kodeket is.

Energiafogyasztás

A chip a régi 14 nm+- eljárásban van gyártva FinFET tranzisztorokkal. Az Amber Lake Y sorozat tipikus TDP-je 5 watton van meghatározva (az előző generációknál ez 4.5 Watt volt), és mindkét irányban állítható, a felhasználási körülményektől függően.
