Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Az XPS 15 9575 elvileg egy izmos átalakíthatóvá teszi az XPS 15 9560-at, anélkül, hogy feláldozná mindazt, amitől az olyan népszerű lett. Ebből a szemszögből az új XPS sikeres, mert minőség és merevség terén egyértelműen klasszikus XPS 15 érzetet kelt, és ehhez hozzárakja az átalakíthatók sokoldalúságát. Jó látni, hogy a ház ugyanolyan erős marad, mint volt, a karcsúbb design ellenére is. Ha az XPS 15 9560-at szeretted, akkor az XPS 15 9575 ismerős lesz.

A Core i5-8305G CPU és Radeon RX Vega M GL GPU teljesítménye nagyjából egy szinten van a Core i7-7700HQ-val, és a GTX 1050-nel, gyakran csak egy számjegynyi százalékkal eltérve azoktól. A Dell egyértelműen tisztában van ezzel, így a friss XPS 15 9560 konfig egy i7-7700HQ CPU-val, és GTX 1050 GPU-val ugyanúgy 1500 USD-ba kerül, mint a most tesztelt XPS 15 9575, de kétszer ennyi RAM-mal (8 GB vs. 16 GB) és tárhellyel (256 GB vs. 512 GB). Így nem kétséges, hogy itt az árat az átalakítható kivitel, érintőkijelző és az egyedi Kaby Lake-G processzor dobja meg. Többször érdeklődtünk a Dell-nél egy esetleges Kaby Lake-R-es, vagy GeForce-os XPS átalakítható verzió iránt, de a fókuszban jelenleg az áll náluk, hogy a lehető legtöbbet hozzák ki a Kaby Lake-G-ből, ennek pedig a 9575 egyértelműen megfelel.

Az ár és specifikáció eltérései nyilvánvalók, de mi a helyzet a hő- és zajszinttel, illetve az üzemidővel? Meglepetésünkre az XPS 15 9575 hűvösebb, csendesebb, és néha kitartóbb is, mint az XPS 15 9560 netezés, szövegszerkesztés és játék közben. Ez dicséretre méltó eredmény, mivel az XPS átalakítható CPU és GPU teljesítmény terén egy szinten mozog az XPS 15-tel, pedig vékonyabb, és a telepe is kisebb.

A kötelezően választandó Maglev billentyűzet ambivalens. Jelentős változás az XPS 15 9560-hoz képest, és a félméretű nyíl- és funkciógombok nem működnek olyan jól, mint a QWERTY billentyűk. Úgy véljük, hogy egy integrált numpad, mint amilyen a 2018-as Spectre x360 15-ben van, hasznosabb lett volna. A közepes-erős ghosting, a kizárólagos USB-C, a PWM, nagy tömeg, szivacsos trackpad, beforrasztott RAM, ujjlenyomatmágnes felület és korlátozottabb háttértár-választék teszik ki a hiányosságok listáját. A játékteljesítmény jó, de egyes játékoknál messze a GTX 1050 mögött marad, mivel ezeknél további optimalizálás lenne szükséges.

A Dell legújabb XPS átalakíthatója egy csomó "első versenyest" tartalmaz, és majdnem mind befutó lett. A Kaby Lake-G a GeForce GTX 1050 és Core i7-7700HQ szintjét hozza, de csendesebb és hűvösebb, mint az XPS 15 9560. Másfelől, a Maglev billentyűzet kissé felemás érzést keltett, és az NVMe Toshiba SSD is átlagban lassabb, mint a hasonló Samsung PM961. Készüljünk fel arra, hogy az USB-C adaptereket, és a zsíros ujjlenyomatok ellen egy törlőkendőt mindenhová vinnünk kell magunkkal.
