Már az NP900X5N tesztjében említettük, hogy azt a konfigurációt nem érné meg megvenni, mivel a Kaby Lake-R és középkategóriás Pascal chipek érkezése a küszöbön állt a hírek szerint. Most, hogy mindkettő elérhető végre, a türelmesek körülbelül 60 százalékkal nagyobb CPU, és 115 %-kal nagyobb GPU teljesítményt élvezhetnek a korábbi modell i7-7500U + GeForce 940MX kombójához képest. Ez még lenyűgözőbb, ha figyelembe vesszük azt is, hogy az új modell energiatakarékossága miatt nem lett hangosabb, forróbb, vagy kevésbé tartós. A nagyobb kapacitású telep külön meglepetés, mivel a tavalyi gép már átlag feletti üzemidővel rendelkezett. 

A legnagyobb hátránya a játék közben erősen lefojtott GPU. Furcsa dolog normális szintetikus benchmark eredményeket mérni, és ugyanakkor gyalázatos játékteljesítményt és nagyon ingadozó képkockaszámot tapasztalni. Amíg nem kapunk hivatalos magyarázatot erre a Samsung-tól, vagy nem adnak ki rá javítást, nem tudjuk ajánlani a drágább, MX150-es konfigurációt.

Minden más maradt ugyanaz, legyen az jó, vagy éppen rossz. A Notebook 9 még mindig verhetetlen, ha a legkönnyebb, legvilágosabb 15 inches ultrabook-ot keressük kitartó útitársunknak. Az érem másik oldala, hogy a ház merevsége kifejezetten gyengébb, és sem 2 az egyben képességet, sem érintőkijelzős változatot nem kapunk, szemben az olyan gépekkel, mint a Spectre sorozat. Izgatottan várjuk, hogy a Samsung újratervezze a Notebook 9 szériát, mivel szerintünk még jobbá tehetné, ha a hagyományos hálózati töltőt cserélné univerzális USB-C töltőre, az ujjlenyomat-olvasót összevonná a bekapcsológombbal, valamint eSIM képességgel tovább növelné a gép mobilitását.

A játék közben mutatott GPU lefojtás miatt csak óvatosan az MX150-es konfiguráció megvásárlásával. Az olcsóbb, integrált grafikus chipes változat viszont kitűnő vétel lehet azoknak, akik kicsit nagyobb gépet szeretnének, mint az XPS 13, ugyanakkor könnyebbet, világosabbat és kompaktabbat, mint az XPS 15.
