Nem egyszerű egyértelmű végkövetkeztetést alkotnunk a Microsoft Surface Laptop i7-ről. Az Intel Core i7-7660U most is kétélű fegyver. Egyrészről a Turbo teljesítmény kiábrándító, és úgy tűnik, hogy a Microsoft semmit nem tanult a Surface Pro i7 (2017)-nél elkövetett hibáiból.

On account of the throttling, the higher Turbo frequency of the Intel Core i7-7660U cannot be fully utilized under continuous load. In terms of price, one must pay a premium of 350 Euros (~$407) for the i7 over the i5-7200U. 

Másrészről, nem az i7 az egyetlen dolog, amely az árban benne van. A jelentősen gyorsabb SSD-ről és az integrált Iris Plus Graphics 640 GPU-ról sem szabad elfelejtkezni. Az i5 modell csigalassú Toshiba SSD-je ugyanis itt érdemel komoly kritikát, míg vele szemben az i7-es gyors Samsung SSD-je dicséretet. Az erősebb Iris Plus Graphics 640 pedig mindenképpen jobb választás a grafikai teljesítményt igénylő alkalmazásokhoz, bár azért nem csinál gamer notebookot az i7-alapú Surface Laptop-ból. 

Az i5 modellhez hasonlóan, az i7 variánsból is kimaradt az USB-C port és az SD olvasó, bár ezek nem minden vásárlónak fognak hiányozni. Az Alcantara bevonat ugyan szintén nem lesz döntő a legtöbbek számára, de a szokványos műanyagokhoz képest felüdülést jelent. A gép remekül összerakott, a ház kiváló minőségű. A hordozhatósága nagyon jó, hála a hosszú üzemidőnek. A Surface laptopokkal a Microsoft a diákokat célozza meg, akiknek a napi feladataikhoz tökéletesen megfelel az i5 modell.

Összefoglalva, a kezdeti kérdés még mindig nyitott: vajon megéri-e a Surface Laptop i7. Véleményünk szerint, az egyetlen igazi hibája a Turbo módban néhány perc után menetrendszerűen bekövetkező teljesítményesés. Ennek ellenére az i7-es laptop így is gyorsabb, jobb CPU és GPU teljesítménnyel, még a lefojtás mellett is. A gyorsabb Samsung SSD-t is számításba véve, a Surface Laptop i7 beszerzése egyáltalán nem tűnik rossz ötletnek.
