A Samsung jó ideje a világ legnagyobb okostelefon gyártója, tehát teljesen biztos, hogy a vállalat valamint nagyon tud; az aktuális csúcsmodelljei a megjelenést követő hetekben több tízmilliós darabszámban fogynak, és a lendület rendszerint később sem hagy alább. Viszont nagyon úgy látszik, hogy a koreai gyártót is kezdi utolérni az Apple-szindróma, évről évre kevesebb a telefonjaiba bekerülő jelentős újítás, és bizony akadnak olyan területek is, ahol a konkurencia már előrébb tart. The start of my conclusion is one you’ve no doubt heard over and over, especially when it is in reference to a Samsung product: at RM3,699, the Galaxy Tab S9 is by no means cheap nor is it affordable, but I am hardly exaggerating when I say that this is a premium, high-end tablet that really makes its pedigree shine through. My contention with its already smaller form factor notwithstanding, 11-inches is still a lot easier to whip out in the middle of an airport terminal or coffee shop, be it to casually binge on a series you’ve been dying to catch up on, or to simply reply to emails quickly. The latter task made simpler, thanks in no small part to the keyboard cover that it comes bundled with. At the end of the day, the Tab S9 is, quite sincerely, the very definition of the phrase “You get what you pay for”. Given the hardware, power, and performance, it is, in my eyes, worth every red sen that Samsung is asking for.

Samsung has been some nice software improvements on the S9 and I haven’t run into much issues. TouchWiz and Android Oreo have been playing together nicely. Finally the recommendation of the Galaxy S9 will be based on which market you are in and which variant you’ll be able to purchase. The Snapdragon 845 variant in the US, China and Japan is a healthy upgrade over its predecessors and I don’t really have much to say against it as a phone, besides the camera exposure issues. I have mixed feelings when reviewing the Galaxy S9, I loved that it still has one of the best smartphone designs with performance improvements, but I hate the newly introduced features and gimmicks that aren’t as exciting as it should be. To call the Galaxy S9 a refined Galaxy S8 would be an understatement, because it is simply a much better smartphone than it’s predecessor in terms of user experience. Despite of that, I’m still not changing the facts of my opinion on not buying the Galaxy S9, and I would wait for a price cut to make my upgrade. The Galaxy S9 is a difficult product to convince users coming from the Galaxy S8 or Note 8 to upgrade, because it is a smartphone that requires hands-on to be appreciated.
