Korábban világossá tettük álláspontunkat az SLI-vel kapcsolatban. Játékra, az SLI mindig felemás eredményt hozott. A DX12 megjelenése még kevésbé ajánlhatóvá tette az SLI-s rendszereket, mivel az API a multi-GPU optimalizálást az Nvidia helyett inkább az egyes fejlesztők kezébe tette.A megbízható SLI támogatás emiatt ritkábbá vált, és ezt a mérési eredményeink is alátámasztják. Aki tehát SLI notebookot szeretne, az gondolja meg, hogy kifejezetten milyen okból van rá szüksége, mert az extra GPU néha inkább akadály lesz.

Ezt félretéve: az Eurocom Sky X9C a legtöbb benchmark listánknak könnyedén az elejére került, köszönhetően az extrém konfigurációnak és a Core i7-8700K-nak. Moduláris felépítése, és a támogatott hardverek széles skálája pedig a fő érv marad a Eurocom gépei mellett az ismertebb gyártók gépeivel szemben.

Másrészről, a cég készülékeinek a főbb gyengeségei is azonosak. A brutális teljesítmény erős zajt (54 dB(A)), magas magi hőmérsékleteket (>85 C), nagy tömeget (5.6 kg) és majdhogynem percekre szűkült üzemidőt jelent. Ugyan a tömeg és üzemidő nem a legfontosabbak a gamer notebookok esetében, a melegedés komolyan limitálja a túlhúzhatóságot, és a zajszint komoly akadály lehet játék közben. Érdekes lenne látni, hogy mit tudna ez a gép SLI nélkül, dupla ennyi hőcserélővel a CPU-n és GPU-n. Fogadni mernénk, hogy az alacsonyabb hőmérséklet, csendesebb ventilátorok, magasabb Boost órajel és jobb túlhúzási lehetőségek annak ellenére is jobb játékteljesítményt eredményeznének, hogy a szintetikus benchmark pontszámokban elmaradna az SLI konfigtól.

A ház és a szoftver részben a múltban rekedt. Az egyedileg megvilágított RGB gombok hiánya egyre kevésbé elnézhető, és a kijelző keretei még mindig gagyinak tűnnek az Alienware mellett. A Control Center és a túlhúzási segédprogramoknál nagyobb hangsúlyt kapott a "színes-szagos" GUI kialakítása, nagy betűkkel, mint egy áttekinthető és logikus felület megtervezése. A gamerek számára kifejezetten hasznos funkciók, például az adat- és videorögzítés, közvetlen fordulatszámkijelzés és -szabályozás ventilátoronként, vagy éppen teljesítmény-fedvények, mind kimaradtak az előre felpakolt szoftverből.

A jobb játékélmény érdekében célszerűbb a Sky X9C felszerelése egy GTX 1080-nal, majd annak tuningolása. A takarékosabb gamerek pedig lényegében ugyanezt a játékos teljesítményt kapják egy 45 W HQ processzorral is, mivel a legtöbb játék nem azt használja ki leginkább. Mindenesetre, szükségünk lesz egy jó fejhallgatóra is!
