A 2,299 dolláros MSRP Lenovo Legion Y920 egy jóféle asztali gép helyettesítő, amelyet komoly játékos gépnek szántak, és ennek megfelelően szerelték fel. A túlhúzható Core i7-7820HK CPU-tól, és a GTX 1070 GPU-tól, a villámgyors Samsung NVMe SSD-n át, egészen a 17.3 inches, IPS G-SYNC kijelzőig minden beleillik az Y920 profiljába. Így közvetlen vetélytársa a piac legnagyobb monstrumainak.

A GPU teljesítményt - amely kicsit alacsony a GTX 1070-től megszokotthoz képest - hihetetlenül jónak értékeljük, és emellett a rendszer is igen gyors. A zaj észrevehető, de soha nem túl zavaró, a ház hőmérséklete meglepően barátságos, és a Lenovo Nerve Center szoftvercsomaggal egyszerű a szükséges finomhangolás (például a ventilátor sebesség, vagy automata túlhúzás). Végezetül, a szerelési minőség kiemelkedő, az ABS műanyag és alumínium remekül összeillik, és vonzó, kellemes külsejű egységet alkot.

A Legion Y920 elsődleges hiányosságai a tartós CPU teljesítmény (extrém chip hőmérséklet miatti lefojtás többmagos munka közben), és a beviteli eszközök terén találhatók. Az előbbiről szólva: míg a Core i7-7820HK papíron lenyűgöző, az Y920 turbo teljesítménye nem érte el az Alienware 17 R4-ét (4.0 GHz, tartós terhelés), mivel a hőmérséklete hamar a 90-es tartományba szökött fel. Ezek alapján a Core i7-7700HQ-s konfiguráció gazdaságosabb és stabilabb rendszer lehet. A beviteli eszközök közül pedig a clickpad beépített gombjai zavaróak lehetnek, és a mechanikus billentyűzet - ugyan határozottan jellegzetes - visszajelzése furcsa (és emellett a gombok lazák, kattognak), amelyet kifejezetten szokni kell. Egyesek számára elrettentő lehet, mi éppenséggel szintén a hagyományos Lenovo AccuType billentyűzetre szavazunk.

Amennyiben eltekintünk a kiábrándító CPU teljesítménytől, és a szokatlan mechanikus billentyűzettől, nem igazán marad kritizálni valónk az Y920-on. Nagy, nehéz, önelégült stílusú, de pont ezt várnánk egy modern, 17.3 inches gamer géptől.

A Turbo Mode csúszkánál nem igazán találtunk okot a kikapcsolására, és ugyan valamivel jobb teljesítményt ad, ha bekapcsoljuk, még így sem feltétlenül nyújt többet, mint a hasonlóan felszerelt riválisok. Szóval, kicsit felesleges kütyünek tűnik, de mondhatjuk, hogy a választás lehetősége mindig előny.

Amennyiben eltekintünk a kiábrándító CPU teljesítménytől, és a szokatlan mechanikus billentyűzettől, nem igazán marad kritizálni valónk az Y920-on. Nagy, nehéz, önelégült stílusú, de pont ezt várnánk egy modern, 17.3 inches gamer géptől. Alapvetően jobb elődjénél, az Y900-nál, és az Alienware 17 R4 és az Asus ROG GL752VS mellett foglal helyet teljesítmény és ár terén is. Azok, akik egy stabil, GTX 1070-es asztali gép helyettesítőt keresnek, mindenképpen vessenek rá egy pillantást (és piszkálják kicsit a billentyűzetet), mielőtt valamelyik gép mellett döntenek.
