The OPPO Find X9 Pro was my favourite mobile camera of last year, but the Honor Magic 8 Pro is an excellent alternative. It's just as capable, if not more so, in low light. Some might find the interface a little derivative and the new AI button not the most original thing out there, but the implementation is great, and all the AI features are actually quite useful. The Magic 8 Pro is not a cheap phone, and it can be hard to get in specific regions of the world, but if you're willing to take a chance and try something different than your popular flagships from the big three, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

It’s cheaper, has an even bigger battery, and some wild robustness claims (I fired a staple directly into its display during the press briefing, and there wasn’t a mark on it afterwards). One thing that I love (again) about this phone is the face unlock. It is unlike anything I have previously used. HONOR says in its documentation that it uses 3D Face Recognition, and it really shows. When I pick the phone up, it immediately unlocks, so I only have to swipe from the lock screen. I literally cannot fault it.
