The Honor Magic 8 Lite has the best battery life of any phone I've ever tested – but it's not a total home run

The Honor Magic 8 Lite offers truly unmatched battery performance. If you hate having to charge often, you'll love this phone. Enhanced aesthetics, increased durability, speedy charging (when you do need it), and a lovely display all sweeten the deal, but lackluster performance and middling cameras ruin the fun. With the Honor Magic 8 Lite, the battery is undoubtedly the star of the show. It has the same massive 7,500 mAh capacity as the Oppo Find X9 Pro, but when combined with its lower-end energy-efficient chip, it lasts even longer. I'm not exaggerating when I say that four days on a single charge is quite easy to achieve with this phone. The Magic 8 Lite's construction has been significantly upgraded this year, too.

The star of the show is unquestionably durability - this is a mid-ranger that flirts with rugged-phone territory without looking or feeling like one. IP68/IP69K certification, resistance to high-pressure water jets, immersion up to 6m and drop protection rated to 2.5m are huge upgrades over previous Lite models and easily one of the main reasons to pick this phone over its rivals. Pair that with a large and bright 120Hz AMOLED with HDR10 support, excellent fingerprint reader and solid stereo speakers, and you get a genuinely pleasant everyday experience. The fundamentals are all covered too.

Qualcomm Adreno 830: Integrált grafikus egység a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC-ben okostelefonok számára három, egyenként 1,1 GHz-es szelettel. Integrált 12 MB megosztott gyorsítótár a három szelethez. A Qualcomm szerint 40%-kal gyorsabb, mint az előző generáció (Adreno 750).
Qualcomm Adreno 840: Integrált grafikus egység a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC-ben okostelefonok számára, három szelettel, egyenként 1,2 GHz-en. A Qualcomm szerint 23%-kal gyorsabb, mint az előző generáció (Adreno 830).

SD 8 Elite: High-end SoC (System on a Chip) okostelefonok számára, amelyet 2024 végén mutattak be. Két gyors, akár 4,32 GHz-es Oryon Gen 2 Prime magot és 6 kisebb, akár 3,53 GHz-es Oryon Gen 2 Performance magot integrál.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 6:
SD 6 Gen 4: Középkategóriás SoC 8 Kryo maggal (1x ARM Cortex-A720 2,3 GHz-es elsődleges mag, 3x ARM Cortex A720 2,2 GHz-es teljesítményű fürt, 4x ARM Cortex A520 1,8-as hatékonyságú fürt) és 5G modemmel. A chip a TSMC modern 4 nm-es eljárásában készül. Hasonló a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3-hoz, de alacsonyabb órajelű Cortex-A720 magokkal.
