Igényes kivitelével, dizájnjával és teljesítményével a Predator Helios Neo 16S AI nagyon jó benyomást tett ránk, egyedül a hűtéssel nem voltunk kibékülve, mert maximális sebességen olyan zajszinttel dolgozik, ami nemcsak minket, de környezetünket is zavarni fog. A vékony gépház kínálta jobb mobilitásért cserébe a sebesség területén kell egy kis kompromisszumot kötni, akit ez zavar, annak persze ott az „S” nélküli, vaskosabb Neo 16 vagy a Neo 18 AI nevű nagyobb testvér. De ettől eltekintve ez egy kifejezetten jól sikerült gamer notebook: erős a hardver, jól sikerült a külalak, és nem feledkeztek meg a bővíthetőségéről sem, a csatlakozókínálat gazdag, ráadásul a portok elrendezése is átgondolt.

This is the brand-new Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S, and while the name might not win any awards, the performance and value just might. For years, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 has been the gold standard for 16-inch gaming laptops, but it comes at a steep price of around $2,600. The Helios Neo 16S, on sale for $1,700, undercuts it by nearly $900 — and here’s the crazy part: the specs are nearly identical.

The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI is a fantastic, large-screen gaming laptop that blends power and portability beautifully for the right price. It’s a capable gaming machine in a svelte chassis with good ports, as well as a capable 16-inch OLED panel. The battery life may not be as strong as key rivals, though. The MSI Stealth A16 AI+ (2025) will go for longer and comes with remarkably similar performance to Acer’s choice, while also being lighter and more portable. However, at nearly £1000/$1000 more, you aren’t necessarily getting all too much more, making the Predator Helios Neo 16S AI a fantastic proposition for the price. If you want a 16-inch OLED with 240Hz refresh rate for under $2,000, you should seriously consider this machine. Asus’s ROG Zephyrus G16 is another 16-inch laptop with an RTX 5070 Ti, a slower Intel Core Ultra 9 285H CPU, and a 240Hz refresh rate, and Asus’s online store has it at $2,799 as I’m wrapping up this review. The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI tries a few other gimmicks. The “AI” branding isn’t a reason to buy this PC over another gaming laptop. And the RTX 5070 Ti GPU — a win on paper — is held back and doesn’t deliver the theoretical high-end performance it might. If you aren’t excited by this OLED at this price, I recommend you consider other options. This display at this price is this machine’s standout feature, not AI.

How much do you care about aesthetics? While I’d personally pay that little bit extra for the sleek styling of an Asus Zephyrus or Razer Blade, plenty of gamers will be more bothered about the hardware inside their laptops rather than how they look on the outside. If you fall into the latter camp, the Predator Helios Neo 16S AI is absolutely worth a look. It has ample amounts of power on tap, a GPU that’s well matched to the resolution of that gorgeous OLED screen, and enough ports to replace your desktop tower – yet is still just about portable enough to take travelling. Loud fans and merely OK battery life mean it isn’t fully multi-purpose, but it gets very close. Considering how much it undercuts its rivals, those are compromises you could happily live with. It’s a whole lot of gaming laptop for your money, with a stunner of a screen (if you pick the right spec). The Predator Helios Neo 16S AI doesn’t wow like some pricier rivals on the design front, though.

Okay, as we've reached the end of this review, I really loved this new Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI. It has everything I need, including a beautiful OLED display, a slim, professional design, powerful performance, and plenty of ports! Saying that, we also have other options in this price range, like the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 2025 for NPR 244,999, which comes with AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX and RTX 5060 graphics. But here's the thing – we get a much faster CPU on the Acer, and the Legion also lacks that 240Hz fast refresh rate. So adding that extra NPR 8,000 for the Acer is absolutely worth it. And at NPR 252,999, the Ultra 7 255HX with RTX 5060 makes way more sense and offers better value for money compared to the Ultra 9 275HX with RTX 5070. So the RTX 5060 configuration is definitely the sweet spot here, but if you need that extra raw power, you can always go with the RTX 5070 option.
