Az Omen széria belépő modellje "csak" egy Core i5-6300HQ processzort kapott Core i7-es helyett. Ennek megfelelően a vásárlónak "csak" 1300 eurót (~$1390) kell előkotorni a zsebéből. A belepakolt processzor azonben több, mint elég erővel rendelkezik az átlagos használatra. A 6300HQ és a GeForce GTX 1060 videokártya kombinációja majdnem minden mostani játékot képes Full HD felbontásban, magas, esetenként maximum részletességen megjeleníteni. Az Nvidia G-Sync technológiája pedig lehetővé teszi a röccmentes képmegjelenítést a 75 Hz-es kijelzőn.

A rendszer sima futása a SATA III SSD-nek köszönhető. Ezen felül még ezt is lehet bővíteni. Az SSD-t cserélhetjük egy sokkal gyorsabb PCIe/NVMe modellre. A beépített 1 TB-os merevlemez cseréje szintén megoldható. A matt IPS kijelző nagy fényerővel, magas kontraszttal, és stabil betekintési szögekkel kényezteti a felhasználót.

Az Omen 17 w100ng-vel a HP egy kiegyensúlyozott belépő szintű modellt dobott piacra a gaming noteszgép szegmensben.

Az Omen ugyanakkor nem mentes a hiányosságoktól: a HP például dolgozhatna a zajon. A laptop hangosabb, mint amennyire indokolt lenne. A hűtést valószínűleg a Core i7-6700 és a GeForce GTX 1070 kombójára méretezték. Egy BIOS frissítés segíthetne a problémán. A laptop ezen felül sem Thunderbolt 3-at, sem USB 3.1 Gen2 csatlakozókat nem kínál. Ebben az árfekvésben, 2016/2017-ben azért ezt elvárnánk egy notebooktól.
