A legújabb Envy legnagyobb vonzereje alacsonyabb,  840 dolláros kezdőárában rejlik, mivel a hasonlóan felszerelt XPS 13, Yoga 910, vagy Spectre x360 13 konfigok 1000 USD-ba, vagy többe kerülnek. Amennyiben a Thunderbolt 3 vagy a 2-in-1 funkciók nem létfontosságúak számunkra, az Envy 13 egy jó, sallangmentes opció lehet. A lehető legközelebb áll egy Spectre x360 13-hoz, de jóval megfizethetőbb annál.

Ugyan az új ház mobilisabb és jobban néz ki, mint a kifutó Envy 13, a kihagyott HDMI és teljes méretű SD olvasó probléma lehet egyesek számára. A billentyűzet és a clickpad visszajelzése is lehetne karakteresebb, és a ventilátor - bár általában halk - hangja is magasabb az átlagnál. Matt panel és Iris Graphics opciók jóval sokoldalúbbá tették volna az Envy 13-at, főleg azoknak, akik sokat vannak úton, vagy nagyobb grafikus teljesítményt várnak el gépüktől. Pár száz dollárral többért pedig az XPS 13 vagy a Spectre x360 13 strapabíróbb designt, jobb billentyűzetet és bővebb csatlakozási lehetőségeket kínál. Így, a drágább Envy 13 konfigurációk létének értelme megkérdőjelezhetővé válik, hiszen az általuk nyújtott minimálisan nagyobb processzorteljesítmény eltörpül az XPS 13 vagy a Spectre designok nagyobb stabilitása és magasabb minősége mellett.

A 2017-es Envy 13 a 2016-os modell majdnem univerzális fejlesztése, nagyobb akkuval, USB-C csatlakozóival, kisebb és könnyebb formátumával. Ugyan még mindig elmarad az  XPS 13 és Spectre szériáktól, de a legkisebb konfigurációja jó alternatíva lehet az ormótlanabb középkategóriások helyett.
