Its 17-inch display is captivating, endlessly immersive, and just a joy to work on. The 5760 is sleek and doesn’t feel at all like it weighs 5.5 pounds. If I had over $3,000 to spend on a laptop and needed workstation-like performance, I’d do some extra weightlifting and select a larger and heavier workstation like Dell’s Precision 5570 or even a mainstream powerhouse like the MSI Creator X16P. Now that we’ve seen what the Precision 17 5770 is all about, it’s time to summarize all the information and try to help you make a purchase decision. Before we start, you have to know that this laptop is fairly expensive. It has all of the vPro goodies from Intel, as well as the optional certifications, should you pick a model that comes with a dedicated GPU. In our experience, the RTX A2000 happened to work just fine, although it was 3W shy of maintaining its 65W power budget. This machine comes with one of the best sounding speakers in the Windows world, which is courtesy of its XPS legacy. The input devices are also very good, while the fingerprint reader and the IR face recognition scanner do help with security. And while having four Thunderbolt 4 connectors is excellent, and utilizing a full-sized SD card reader is useful for photographers, we really miss the dedicated USB Type-A ports and HDMI connectors. Don’t be scared, though, as the company provides a USB Type-C to USB Type-A and HDMI dongle inside the box.

You get four Thunderbolt 4 connectors and a MicroSD card slot. This means no USB Type-As or HDMI on there. However, Dell provides a USB Type-C to Type-A and HDMI dongle inside the box. After all, the XPS-like visuals, the fantastic build quality, and the comfort of use make the laptop a good purchase. It is a great little machine for people working with not-so-complex 3D manipulation, photography, and videography. If the high price is not too offputting for you, the laptop is really worth it. I like using the Dell Precision 5680 because it feels like a slightly bigger, beefier version of the elegant, streamlined laptops I've come to expect from Dell. With its easy-to-carry frame, big screen and strong performance it's probably the closest thing I've yet seen to an OLED-equipped Dell XPS 17, and it will be for the foreseeable future—or at least, until Dell decides to sell an XPS 17 OLED. But as much as I like the Precision 5680, it's hard to see a lot of cases where I'd recommend it to someone over another laptop.
