A Dell Latitude 5495 egy nagyon jó, AMD Ryzen mobilos laptop lehetne. A hangsúly itt a "lehetne" szón van, mivel a Dell szinte annyi mindent csinál rosszul, mint amennyit jól.

Először is: Minket nagyon érdekelt, hogy a Latitude mennyire jól tudná kihasználni a Ryzen-ben rejlő teljesítményt - ebben a tekintetben az értékelés "nagyon jó". A Latitude 5495-nek sikerül legyőzni az Intel-es Latitude 5490 testvérmodellt, és úgyszintén a jól ismert Lenovo ThinkPad A485 és a HP EliteBook 745 G5 versenytársakat is. Mindkettő sokkal rosszabb az üzemidő szempontjából, annak ellenére, hogy a Latitude akkuja kisebb kapacitású, mint ahogy meghírdették. Ezen előnyök mellett a Latitude 5495 egy nagyon gyors SD kártyaolvasót, egy robusztus vázat jó bővíthetőséggel, és többnyire jó bemeneti eszközöket kínál. Úgyszintén, a ventilátor üresjáratban csendes maradt, míg a váz nem melegedett túlságosan, még terhelés alatt sem.

Ahol van fény, ott van árnyék is. Ebben az esetben az árnyékot a képernyő képviseli. A képernyő fénylik, de halványan, csak 200 cd/m² átlaggal. Ez jobb kéne legyen, és lehetne is, mivel 200 cd/m² problematikus lehet még fényes beltéri környezetekben is. Ezenkívül a képernyő "backlight bleeding"-et is mutatott, és a színtér lefedettsége elégtelen volt. A képernyő a legszembetűnőbb probléma, de nem az egyetlen. A váz nehezebb és jóval vastagabb, mint a versenytársaké, ami valószínűleg magyarázatot ad arra, hogy a Dell hogyan tudott beilleszteni egy olyan nagy akkut. A Dell Latitude 5495-ből még hiányoznak olyan funkciók, amelyeket elvártunk volna egy üzleti laptoptól ebben az árkategóriában. Ilyen például az ujjlenyomat-olvasó, egy Pointing Stick vagy egy háttérvilágítású billenytűzet - ezek csak drága opciókként érhetők el. A Thunderbolt 3 sem áll rendelkezésre, és ez még opcióként sem érhető el. Továbbá, a Dell spórolt az SSD-n - legalábbis csak így tudjuk megmagyarázni a lassú SATA II SSD-t. Ugyanez igaz a csak alap 12 hónapos rövid garanciára.

Nehéz értékelés: A Dell Latitude 5495-nek számos pozitív aspektusa van, de ugyanakkor sok hátránya is.

Ilyen esetekben nehezünkre esik ajánlani egy készüléket vagy lebeszélni a megvásárlásáról. A Dell Latitude 5495-nek minden bizonnyal megvannak az előnyei, de nekünk a sötét képernyő egyszerűen használhatatlan - de azt is tudjuk, hogy sok üzleti felhasználónak gyakran más prioritásai vannak, mint a képernyő minősége. Mindent egybevetve, mi valószínűleg az olyan versenytársakat részesítenénk előnyben, mint amilyen a Lenovo ThinkPad A485 és a HP EliteBook 745 G5, habár gyengébb üzemidejük egy nyomós érv a Latitude mellett. Mindenesetre még mindig igaz, hogy a tökéletes AMD Ryzen-es laptop feltalálása még várat magára.
