Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Az Alienware 15 R3 harmadik kiadásának külseje vitán felül jól néz ki (kivéve a kitüremkedő ventilátorrész). Jelenleg nincs a piacon másik olyan notebook, amelynek ennyire szofisztikált, stabil és jól összeszerelt háza van. Ezen felül ott van még az egyedi design, a kiváló beviteli eszközök és a számos világító elem.

Az elkövetkező években sem sok problémára lehet számítani a géppel. Ha a GPU már nem számít elég erősnek, egyszerűen a géphez tudunk csatolni egy külső videokártyát, hála a Thunderbolt 3-nak, vagy a GA portnak. A 120 Hz-es kijelző vegyes érzéseket keltett. A válaszideje, fényereje, kontrasztja remek, de a betekintési szögek, a fekete értéke, és a színhűség átlag alatti. Ez a TN technológiából adódik (a 60Hz-es modell IPS kijelzős).

A legfőbb probléma viszont a tesztelt géppel kapcsolatban a hő- és zajkibocsátás terhelés alatt, amely - amint azt az Emissions szekcióban kifejtettük - valószínűleg a processzormagok egyenetlen melegedéséből adódik. Majdnem 50 dB(A) 3D alkalmazásoknál elég sok, bár az Alienware 15 R3 meglepően vékony, csak 2,5 cm. Talán, ha sikerül egy másik konfigját is tesztelni a 15 inches gépnek, akkor kiderül, hogy ez a tesztpéldány hibája volt, vagy általános jelenség. Ezen problémák miatt 1%-ot levontunk az összesített pontszámból.

Amennyiben viszont ezen a részleten, valamint a középszerű hangon felül tudunk emelkedni, az Alienware 15 R3 majdnem mindenben lenyűgözően teljesít. A Core i7-7700HQ és a GeForce GTX 1070 minden mai játékot Ultra részletességen képes futtatni, 1920x1080 pixeles felbontásban.
