A lényegre koncentrálva. A Gigabyte legújabb P55W verziója nem igazán változott sokat. Míg elődje GeForce GTX 970M-et, az új modell GTX 1060-at használ, ez viszont egy kifejezetten észrevehető különbség.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

A Gigabyte P55W különféle változatai mindig remekül egyensúlyoztak a teljesítmény és ár között, és a 6- verzió szerencsére tudja ugyanezt. A GeForce GTX 970-ről GTX 1060-ra váltás 50%-os növekedést eresményezett a 3D teljesítményben, míg az ár egyáltalán nem változott (1600 EUR / ~$1710). Az, hogy többet kapunk a pénzünkért, nyilvánvaló telitalálat.

A külső megjelenés semennyit sem változott - a ház, a fizikai csatlakozók megfelelő választéka, a remek beviteli eszközök, valamint az éppen megfelelő hangszórókon nem változtattak. A Gigabyte ebben az esetben is egy Skylake CPU-t használt, 16 GB RAM-mal, tehát a rendszernek van tartaléka, és a nehezebb feladatokat is komolyabb lassulás nélkül oldja meg. A telep üzemideje sem igazán változott.

Elődjével összevetve az új notebook bizonyos téren visszalépésnek tűnik. A kijelző kontrasztja kisebb, és a fényerő eloszlása is rosszabb lett. Ez főleg azért különös, mert - legalábbis típus- és modellszám alapján - ugyanazok. A veszett gyors Samsung SSD, amellyel a P55W v5 fel volt szerelve, egy sokkal lassabb Transcend meghajtónak adta át a helyét. A gép zaja is rosszabb, főleg a teljes terhelés alatti ingadozások idegesítőek.

Mindent egybevetve a P55W v6 sikeres fejlődési lépés a gaming szériában, és 1600 euróért (~$1710) a felhasználó komoly 3D teljesítményt kap a pénzéért. Az azonos felszereltségű Asus ROG Strix GL502VM az egyetlen gép ilyen jó ár/érték aránnyal. Azok a felhasználók, akiknek kisebb játékteljesítmény is elegendő, sok pénzt spórolhatnak az Acer Aspire VX5-591G-vel, amely nagyjából 1000 euróba (~$1070) kerül. Azoknak pedig, akik a P55W v6-nál erősebb gépre vágynak, sokkal mélyebben a zsebükbe kell nyúlniuk: az Acer Predator 15 G9-593, például 2500 euró (~$2670) körüli áron kapható.
