Összegzés - Az M2 Pro és az M2 Max szolid frissítéseknek bizonyulnak, de nagy ugrásokat a hatékonyság terén sehol nem vettünk észre

Még ha ebből a frissítésből hiányzik is a lényegesebb hatékonysági előrelépés, és az Apple továbbra is az 5 nm-es eljárást használja az M2 Pro és M2 Max chipek gyártásához, akkor is szolid erőfeszítésről beszélünk. Az Apple mind az egy-, mind a többmagos processzorok teljesítményét növelni tudta. Maximális terhelésnél a két plusz mag miatt a hatékonyság kissé alacsonyabb az M1 Pro és M1 Max processzorokhoz képest, de összességében a hozzáadott energiatakarékos magok pozitívan hatottak a chipekre, mivel a teljesítménymagokat nem kell olyan gyakran használni. Összességében mindenképpen javulást tapasztalhatunk az új CPU-k összesített hatékonyságában. 

Bár az Intel a Raptor Lake mobilprocesszorokkal (13. generáció) nagyobb egymagos teljesítményt kínál, a többmagos teljesítmény és hatékonyság terén nem tudják felvenni a versenyt az Apple-lel. Az AMD esetében némileg más a helyzet, mivel a Ryzen 9 7945HX (szintén 5 nm-es) első benchmarkjai szerint 35 wattos teljesítményével hatékonyabb, mint az M2 Pro, és a Zen 4-gyel (4 nm) még jobb eredményeket várunk az U-sorozatú lapkáktól.

Ami az integrált grafikus kártyát illeti, sem az Intel, sem az AMD nem tudja a legkevésbé sem tartani a lépést az Apple-lel - ehelyett az Apple-nek még az olyan dedikált grafikus kártyákkal is sikerül felvennie a versenyt, mint az RTX 3050 Ti, vagy az M2 Max (38 mag) esetében akár az új GeForce RTX 4070 laptop. A jobb teljesítmény mellett az Apple-nek sikerült tovább javítania az integrált grafikus kártya hatékonyságát is.

Különösen a Windows rendszerű számítógépekkel összehasonlítva két dolgot nem szabad elfelejteni: Alacsony terhelés mellett a MacBook-ok energiafogyasztása rendkívül alacsony, ráadásul az M2 Max maximális teljesítményszintjén is megúszható, hogy a Mac akkumulátorára támaszkodjunk - ami hasonló Windows komponensekkel egyszerűen nem lenne lehetséges.

Azt is el kell mondani, hogy az Apple hamarosan némi konkurenciába ütközik az AMD-től, legalábbis ami a processzorokat illeti. Nagyon kíváncsian várjuk, hogyan teljesítenek majd az új U-sorozatú Zen 4 chipek, és hogy az Apple-nek sikerül-e hamarosan megtennie azt az ugrást a 3 nm-es chipekkel, amit annyira szeretnénk látni.
