The solid build quality, the miniLED 4K screen option, the competent IO, and the oversized thermal design are the main selling points of this Helios 500 over its counterparts, while at the same time its size and weight, the lack of a MUX switch, and its smaller battery might steer some of you away. All in all, this behemoth is more a desktop laptop than most of the other full-size performance options of this generation, and I'd expect this aspect to weigh in heavily in your final decision.

If you are not a die-hard enthusiast, nor someone that is looking for that extra 1 fps hiding in the corners, then, the Helios 500 might not be the right device for you. It is extremely heavy and clunky for today’s standards and doesn’t offer an awful lot more in terms of performance when compared to more portable laptops like the Lenovo Legion 7 for example. As far as the display options go, you can pick between a 360Hz 1080p IPS panel, and a 120Hz 4K Mini LED screen. They differ massively, but essentially, they let you take advantage of your extremely powerful hardware. We are soon going to update the review with more info about the 1080p option, which was the one we got.
