Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Már a házról szóló szekcióban említettük (lásd teljes cikk), hogy a Yoga 520-14IKB nagyon hasonlít az IdeaPad 520s-14IKB-re. Ez nem csak a design terén van így, de úgy általánosságban is igaz a hardverére. A Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB-t majdnem hívhatjuk az IdeaPad átalakítható változatának is.

Emiatt az előnyök és hátrányok listája is igen hasonló a két gépnél. Ahogyan az IdeaPad esetében is, a ház, billentyűzet és a touchpad jók. Bár drágább készülékekben láttunk ezeknél sokkal jobbat, ennyiért nem várhatunk többet a Yoga-tól, amely a fentiekben nem mutat komolyabb gyengeségeket. Többé-kevésbé a hő- és zajkibocsátásról is elmondható ez, a Yoga 520-14IKB alig melegszik, és kifejezetten csendes. Nagyobb kapacitású telepének hála pedig elődjénél jóval jobb lett az üzemideje is.

A hőmenedzsment az első, ahol azért IdeaPad 520s-14IKB eltér a most tesztelt géptől. Előbbi valamivel jobban melegszik (részben az Nvidia GPU miatt), mint a Yoga 520. Ennek a fő oka azonban az első komoly negatívum is: a CPU teljesítményét erősen korlátozták, így messze elmarad a Core i5-7200U elméleti maximumától. Ennek oka, hogy a gyártó 8 wattban határozta meg a TDP-t. Így az sem meglepő, hogy a ház nem melegszik. A képernyő egy másik fontos pont. Ugyan érintőkijelző, és aktív digitalizáló képességgel is rendelkezik, a színei a korlátozott színlefedettség miatt nem túl jók. A fényerő pedig túl gyenge, hogy ellensúlyozza a tükröződő felületet, így a kültéri használhatósága korlátozott. Ami azonban igazán zavaró, az a közelről látható, furcsa hullámmintázat a kijelzőn, valamint az alacsony PWM frekvencia. Ezen felül az IdeaPad-ról hiányzik egy olyan USB-C csatlakozó, amely nem csak USB feladatokra alkalmas. A zsanérjai is lötyögősebbek, mint elvárnánk. Végül pedig, az IdeaPad 520s-14IKB-hez hasonlóan, az 1x1 WLAN sem tetszett.

A kijelző gyengeségei, a gyatra CPU teljesítmény, kombinálva a koros alkatrészekkel, lehetetlenné teszi a Yoga 520-14IKB számára, hogy ajánlott készülék legyen.

Hiányosságai miatt, nem szívesen ajánlanánk a Yoga 520-14IKB-t. A kijelző és a CPU problémái különösen nagy súllyal esnek latba a döntésünknél. Ehhez vegyük még hozzá, hogy jelenleg a Yoga 520-14IKB egyszerűen le van maradva, mivel a választható GPU-k és CPU-k utód modelljei már elérhetők. Emiatt azt javasoljuk olvasóinknak, hogy inkább más átalakíthatót válasszanak, vagy várjanak a Yoga Kaby Lake-R -es és MX150-es frissítésére. Talán akkorra a kijelző és teljesítmény hiányosságait is sikerül orvosolni.
