While I did enjoy using the device, especially for the design and display, I feel that HUAWEI could’ve done better. Though the battery efficiency is actually good, I would’ve loved for it to come with a larger battery capacity to make it more of an attractive offering. If you don’t mind paying RM1,899 and prefer to get something different, it’s something to consider.

Had it not been for the compromises that users would have to make in terms of the software, it would have been a flip of the coin to decide which is best as the hardware margins are so fine. The problem is that people don’t want to make compromises, especially when it comes to the saturated mid-range and therefore the Nova 8 comes with a disclaimer. Is it worth gambling on? Yes, but given the wealth of options currently available, there is no need to.

However, that advantage is hard to notice when it lacks 5G. Its competitors under the price range have that feature. Now it’s harder to ignore the inconvenience of not having GMS. Many users would still want this phone, but I don’t think they’d be willing to pay that much given the cons.
