Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

A HP ProBook 655 G2 a ProBook 650 G2 testvérkészüléke. Mindkét eszköz középkategóriás 15.6 inches üzleti notebook. A 655 G2-ben AMD APU-k kaptak helyet. The 650 G2 modellek pedig Intel processzorokkal üzemelnek. A 655 G2 beépített processzora nem képes teljes sebességen működni. Az ok: a HP 15 wattra korlátozta a TDP-t, hogy az Intel ULV processzoraival legyen azonos szinten. Ennek következményeként az AMD CPU Turbo funkciója korlátozódott. Ennek ellenére a teljesítménye így is több, mint elégséges irodai alkalmazásokhoz és internetezéshez.

A ProBook 650 G2 nem életképes alternatíva a ProBook 655 G2 -vel szemben. Az alacsonyabb ár kisebb CPU-teljesítményt, és észrevehetően rosszabb üzemidőt jelent telepről.

A számítógép mindig csendesen üzemel, és alig melegszik. A tesztkészülékünk nem rendelkezett SSD-vel, bár beépíthető lenne. A meglévő 2.5 inches HDD cserélhető 2.5 inches vagy M.2-es SSD-re. A notebookon nem található szervízfedél. A készülék alsó részének eltávolítása lenne szükséges a szereléshez. Ez utóbbi nem nehéz feladat.

A beépített billentyűzet jó benyomást tett ránk, gyakran íróknak is megfelel. Az általunk tesztelt ProBook 650 G2 modellekhez hasonlóan a háttérvilágítás itt is hiányzik. Ennek pedig alapértelmezettnek kellene lennie egy ProBook-hoz hasonló készüléknél. A telep üzemideje is átlagos. A tesztpéldányunkat nem szerelték fel LTE/3G modemmel. Egy ilyen eszköz utólag beépíthető. A szükséges aljzatok és antennák megvannak hozzá.

Bár alig hihető, de a HP-nak sikerült észrevehetően alulmúlnia a korábban tesztelt két 650 G2 készülék eddig is gyatra kijelzőjét. A ProBook 655 G2 kijelzője nagyon sötét, kontrasztszegény, és rossz betekintési szöget nyújt. Telepről történő működéskor a fényerő leesik 81 cd/m²-re. Ez még beltéri használatra is kevés.
