Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Az Asus VivoBook Flip 12 TP203NAH egy 11.6 inches átalakítható. A beépített Apollo Lake processzor irodai alkalmazásokhoz és netezéshez elegendő erőt biztosít. Mivel a lapkakészlet integrált dekódere kezelni tudja az elterjedt videoformátumokat, ezért a gép alkalmas lehet csendes otthoni videolejátszónak is.

A kijelzőről alkotott képünk vegyes. Az Asus egy kontrasztos, stabil betekintésű panelt választott, amelynek a fényereje lehetne magasabb. 

A VivoBook Flip 12 elsődlegesen otthoni használatra termett.

Az 1 TB-os merevlemeznek hála a kis gép hatalmas tárolókapacitással bír. Egy kisebb SSD viszont megfelelőbb választás lett volna. Kis teljesítményű CPU-val felszerelt gépeknél ugyanis sokkal észrevehetőbb a HDD és SSD közötti különbség. Aki tehát SSD-re vágyik, annak magának kell beszerelnie. Ez azonban nem éppen egyszerű. Sajnos az Asus pedig jelenleg nem kínál egyetlen SSD-vel felszerelt VivoBook változatot sem.

Az üzemidő éppen hogy átlagos: WLAN tesztünkben az eszköz 6:05 órát bírt. Amennyiben a gépet csak a nappalinkban használjuk, ez teljesen elegendő. Amennyiben viszont iskolába, vagy máshová magunkkal akarjuk vinni, célszerű vinni magunkkal a kábelét. A Dell Latitude 3189, amely ugyanezt a hardvert, és ugyanilyen kapacitású telepet tartalmaz, jó négy órával tovább bírja.

Végül pedig hadd említsük meg az árát. Az Asus 500 eurót kér (~$560) VivoBook-ért, amely elég sok egy ilyen egyszerű átalakíthatóért. Ebből a szempontból azonban a riválisok sem teljesítenek sokkal jobban, és a hasonló modellek ára is nagyjából hasonló.
