Egy játékosnak azonban alighanem a hardver a legfontosabb, az pedig bivalyerős; mind általános, mind multimédiás, mind pedig játékos tesztjeinkben kiválóan szerepelt. Az ASUS ráadásul nem volt szívbajos sem, Turbo fokozaton a rendszer bátran engedi akár 100 °C-ig is melegedni a CPU-t, úgyhogy igazából csak a hűtőrendszer az, ami korlátozza az elérhető sebességet. Ez pedig nem kevés, mint azt korábban is láttuk, a 2K-s kijelzőt és a 165 Hz-es maximális frissítési frekvenciát teljes mértékben kihasználhatjuk még maximális minőségi beállítások mellett is. És közben dicséretet érdemel maga a kijelző is, hiszen minden szempontból nagyon jó teljesítményt nyújt, és segítségével a Scar 17 G733QS nemcsak játékra, de például komoly multimédiás, grafikus munkára is bevethető.

All told, the 2021 version of the Strix Scar 17 is a great gaming machine. It's light and compact enough to be portable and has the battery power and specs to back that up to. It's also easy-on-the-eye both in terms of design and the gaming goodness it delivers. There are a few minor niggles - such as no webcam - and one big one - the price - but otherwise we'd happily recommend this gaming machine as a brilliant purchase that's well worth considering.

Just to put context to our testing, the ROG Strix SCAR 17 2021’s GPU is a 130W TGP card. This is outclassed by the 165W TGP of the Lenovo in our comparison. Still, these are very high numbers for a laptop not running a jet engine cooler. In some games, particularly CSGO, the GPU actually relaxes a bit and can dip to around 300FPS but this allows the GPU to operate at a lower clock speed as well and not tax the CPU as much as the maximum draw. That said, this is evident in our battery test where general use sees the ROG Strix SCAR 17 2021 last almost 30 minutes longer versus the Legion. Gaming does match them but that’s a moot point as the best gaming experience would be when plugged in. I can easily recommend this laptop for looks alone but as I mentioned, some configurations are a better value than others and would prove an excellent gaming platform regardless.

However, it is a balanced option in this mid-sized design at under 3 kilos, and the kind of product that should better cater to the needs of current potential buyers looking for a high-performance notebook, but without requiring two power bricks and a gym membership to lug around when needed. I do look further to find find out more about the pricing of the SE series in comparison to the regular Scar 17, and especially in comparison to the competition. ROGs are usually competitively priced in most markets, so hopefully, the Scar 17 SE won’t diverge away from it.
