I’m having a hard time thinking of any serious drawbacks to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, unless you have an aversion to the company’s cartoony MIUI Android skin. Yes, we don’t have a UK price yet, but assuming it’s under £300 – as it should be given the US RRP is $279 – then it’s a fantastic pick with decent performance, an incredible screen and superb photographic abilities. The only fly in the ointment is the fact that Xiaomi’s Poco X3 NFC sells for at least £100 cheaper, and it has exactly the same processor and RAM. I think, however, that there’s enough here to justify the extra expenditure thanks to its wonderful camera and silky smooth 120Hz AMOLED screen.

Overall, the Redmi Note 10 Pro is quite an impressive smartphone with its AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, IP53 rating, good cameras, and great battery life. However, it’s missing 5G connectivity, which you might want for your next phone to have if you’re planning on keeping it for few years. Xiaomi could have also equipped it with a higher-grade chipset, but that wasn’t the case, probably to keep the cost down. Still, we’re getting a great performance from the device and can be a good candidate as a solid daily-driver.

Here, then, is the long-form answer: If you can accept that these are mid-rangers blessed with a single groundbreaking feature, if you’re not a person in a hurry, if you shoot mostly alone, and/or if you like the idea of flaunting the “108MP” and “5X Optical” inscriptions on the back - you'll love the Mi Notes 10. At around S$730-S$740 on the street now, the 10 Pro is about a hundred bucks less than, say, a Huawei P30 Pro, and it comes with slightly less snappy performance, but zoom you can really show off. However, if you demand consistent performance in all areas from your phone, or you believe that headliner features should come with headliner specs all round, this duo is not for you. Give them a miss and see what the upcoming Mi 10 series, with its rumoured Snapdragon 865 processor, has to offer.
