However, it lacks brightness in most tested conditions, and this has an impact on the user experience, especially when watching HDR10 videos, which lack contrast and appear somewhat flat. Dark tones are missing and a green cast is noticeable. The device has a smooth feel when browsing the web and when gaming. Although the screen reacts accurately when gaming, touch reactivity in the corners is poor, and aliasing is visible.

The VIVO X60 Pro costs £748, so it is not what you’d call a cheap phone. It’s not even a mid-range phone. It is a flagship phone that costs about as much as the Galaxy S21, the iPhone 12, and the Xiaomi Mi 11. For this amount of money, you expect a few things to be in place, things like an IP rating, solid battery life, and a high-resolution display. You’d also expect to have the best CPU money can buy. But on the VIVO X60 Pro, all of these things are missing. I do like the VIVO X60 Pro and I had a great time testing it but for the asking price, it does fall short in my eyes. If it cost £499, I’d be recommending this phone to everyone. But it doesn’t. And at this price point, the VIVO X60 Pro, with all of its foibles, just isn’t as competitive as the competition.

On sale in Europe, UK, India, and a few other Asian countries, the Vivo X60 Pro is being sold at £749/€799 which is pretty much the same price as the X51 5G from 2020. This time around, though, there’s a flagship (ish) processor in the form of the Snapdragon 870 which brings a nice performance boost to a svelte-looking handset. The Vivo X60 has its strengths such as the very capable 48MP main camera with Gimbal Stabilization 2.0, a very good AMOLED display, and a stunning design, but there are glaring omissions such as wireless charging, the limited 33W fast-charging speed, an IP rating, and the expensive price tag. Much like the X51 5G, the X60 Pro is a very good phone that is weighed down by its RRP when compared to competitors such as the Galaxy S21 and Mi 11i.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Vivo X60 Pro has the best design in all the flagship devices I have tested so far this year. It feels extremely premium in the hand and at the same time, it’s been constructed with durability in mind. There is very little to complain about in the performance department apart from the unusual heating of the device during some heavy-ended graphics-based usage. The cameras are also exceptional, especially when you compare the low-light capabilities to some of the competing devices. Apart from that, the X60 Pro’s superlative display matches up to industry standards and packs in all the features that you could possibly want. Could the haptics have been better? Most definitely. The battery life is nothing to write home about and the lack of wireless charging or an official IP rating makes me question the price tag. FunTouch is in a state of improvement and still has some way to go.
