At the end of the day, the 7i is barely considered a spec bump upgrade with performance remaining relatively similar to its previous model and only in certain situations, slightly better than some of its competitors. Lenovo skimped on screen specs to reach a price point many customers will appreciate in the midst of an inflationary economy. When compared to other devices in the same category, the 7i 16 tends to come in $200 to 300 dollars cheaper in most configurations and offer up a decently calibrated, and wide 16:10 aspect ratio screen that can double as consumption device on the go. If weight, and bleeding edge screen tech aren’t on your shopping bingo card, the Lenovo 7i 16 could serve as your next big screen workstation.

The Lenovo Yoga 7i is a solid 2-in-1 laptop with leading productivity performance, swift SSD metrics and a killer speaker system wrapped up in a gorgeous but minimalistic aluminum exterior. With our model priced at $1,000, you won’t be disappointed by its capabilities. Decent performance tends to compromise power efficiency, but its satisfactory metrics failed to hinder its long-lasting battery life. But this otherwise impressive laptop suffers from an extraordinarily dismal display. I would have stepped away from our testing less critical if the screen was at an acceptable level of mediocrity, but it’s exceptionally colorless and its peak brightness won’t stand up against a sliver of sunlight. For a similar 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop with a superior display, we recommend the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360. Otherwise, the Yoga 7i is a good pick for those willing to sacrifice color depth and brightness for a less expensive product.

We're fans of 14-inch and smaller convertibles, but 16-inch models are bound to be unwieldy, and not even Lenovo's unbeatable 2-in-1 expertise can change that. The Yoga 7i 16 Gen 8 fulfills its purpose with impressive material design, decent performance, and astounding battery life, However, we're not thrilled with its display or keyboard, and we're disappointed that Best Buy versions like ours don't come with a pen for sketching and scribbling on the big screen. It's certainly worth a look if you can't afford an HP Spectre x360 16, but the Yoga 7i 16 Gen 8 falls short of Editors' Choice consideration.
