I'd love to be a flagship. LG shrinks its LG G4 to 5-inches and an RRP of 279 Euros (~$306). The new G4c model sports a quad-core SoC from Qualcomm, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB internal storage, NFC, and LTE Cat. 4. Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is preloaded. The downgrade results in a good smartphone that will, however, always be in its big brother's shade.

The LG G4c gives a great first impression. With a very comfortable design, unique look and a nice screen, using it is a pleasure for the first day or so. As more apps are installed, and the paltry internal memory makes its presence felt, things can become a little slow. Yet, with a powerful speaker, a decent rear-facing camera, great battery life, a capable processor and many little usability enhancements, the G4c is designed with comfort in mind. For the average user, it will prove to be more than adequate. And yet for the price point, there are better options available.

The LG G4c has a reasonable camera and a fantastic battery life, but when it's competing alongside the likes of Sony’s Xperia M4 Aqua, the Samsung Galaxy A3 and 3rd Gen Moto G, its poor screen, small amount of storage and mediocre performance simply doesn’t measure up. It's not terrible but it's distinctly below average. For me, the 3rd Gen Moto G continues to be my preferred budget handset, but those after an even better bargain are much better off buying the £125 Vodafone Smart Ultra 6.

The LG G4c is a 5-inch 720p phone sold at a slight premium over the growing range of similar phones like the Moto G 4G and Vodafone Smart Prime 6. However, it doesn’t have any serious benefits while also suffering from some pretty irritating lag. Performance issues and a relatively high price make this a disappointing mid-range Android.
