There is a price for this performance, with relatively loud fan noise whenever games were played. Gigabyte’s software allows this to be tamed, but doing so will decrease performance. Battery life is also not this machine’s strongest point, measuring just 165 minutes. It’s the price to be paid for having so much power on tap.

Overall, while the P35X v3's mighty 980M GPU lets you run the latest games on its ultra-high-res screen, you'll pay a price for that power. At $2,399, the laptop demands a significant premium over competitors like the MSI GE62 Apache. But if price isn't an roadblock, impressive performance, a gorgeous display, and excellent battery life will make you feel like you got your money's worth.

The Gigabyte P35 v3 isn't the prettiest laptop on the block, but its performance makes this device a knockout. For $2,279, you get a notebook with the world's most powerful graphics card, an equally powerful CPU and a super-high-res display in a fairly portable chassis. However, for this kind of money, we'd appreciate better sound and a less erratic touchpad.

Gigabyte’s latest laptop is a pure power portable. Nvidia’s GTX 980M is a monster, and its prowess was demonstrated in benchmarks: at 1080p it’s miles ahead of the nearest rival, and it’s got the speed to play top titles relatively smoothly at native resolution. Gigabyte’s latest throws down the gauntlet thanks to a GPU that’s more powerful than anything we’ve ever seen in a laptop, but its impressive gaming potential is hampered by a poor screen, middling ergonomics and a lack of battery life.
