Compared to the model we reviewed last year, the new ROG Strix SCAR 17 has lost unnecessary elements (such as the UV flashlight and KeyStone), which you won't have to overpay for when buying a flagship laptop. Yes, its price has indeed become lower, although it is still not a cheap desktop replacement. But with an AMD processor, the user will also get perhaps the best performance, and the quality of all other elements remains at a very high level. There are also some minimal differences (there are fewer speakers, but a webcam has appeared), although for the most part they do not play a significant role. So, in the end, ROG Strix SCAR 17 is still one of the best options for gaming and demanding tasks if your budget allows you to spend 159,999 UAH on a new laptop.

In fact, the newest ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17, in the configuration we tested, is arguably the most powerful laptop currently available. Further, AMD's Ryzen 9 7945HX that powers the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 is the multi-threaded, mobile performance champion, with highly-competitive single-threaded performance as well. The GeForce RTX 4090 in the machine offered top-notch performance too, though it didn’t take the top spot across the board versus the larger MSI Titan GT77 HX. Although AMD has made big strides in gaming laptops over the last couple of generations, Intel has still firmly held the performance crown. That was especially true for Intel’s flagship chips, which AMD didn’t have any clear answer for. The Ryzen 9 7945HX changes that dynamic, and the Strix Scar 17 is a great showcase for the chip. As a laptop, the Scar 17 is solid as well. The price feels reasonable given the level of hardware inside, even if it means sacrificing in areas like the screen and overall build quality. Even with those sacrifices, you’re getting peak performance in a design that can handle the hardware inside with ease.
