Az iPhone 15 ellen szól az, hogy a kijelző 60 Hz-es, hogy a dobozban nincs a töltőkábelen kívül más tartozék, hogy az ultraszéles kamera idén már látványosan gyengébb a főkamerához képest. Ezek viszont valószínűleg pont olyan dolgok, amik nem fogják érdekelni azt, aki az alap iPhone-t keresi. Az Apple ügyesen kimérte kiskanállal azt a mennyiségű újítást, amitől másnak, újnak érződik a készülék (ez tavaly azért nem sikerült az alapmodellnél, hacsak a Plus érkezését nem vesszük annak), de még ismerősnek érződik majd. Akik az iOS általi támogatásból most kieső modellekről váltanak, azoknak megadatik a kellő újdonság és feltűnő lesz a sebességkülönbség is.

Although Apple iPhone batteries are known to have comparably less capacity than other current smartphones on the market, the iPhone 15 managed to maintain autonomy of more than two days (50 hours and 58 minutes) under moderate-use conditions, which is a good result, even if below average in our database. Nevertheless, autonomy showed some limitations when individual use cases were tested, such as gaming, music streaming, and outdoor calling, where the device was tested using mobile data (4G). Equipped with a new USB-C charging port, the iPhone 15’s charging experience was mixed. We measured a maximum charging power limit of 20W. The device took 2 hours and 31 minutes to fully replenish its battery in wired charging, and 2 hours and 49 minutes in wireless charging, which is above average in our database.

Both Apple iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have support for super-fast 5G connectivity with gigabit speeds. However, if you prioritize a faster 120Hz refresh rate then the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus won’t cut it out for you. You will need to go for the Pro models. If you are looking for an alternative option you can check the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra which comes with better specs and 4 years of software updates.

For those with older phones from five or so years ago, the iPhone 15 marks a giant leap forward with a fast chip, long battery life, a crisp and bright display and the more useful USB-C port. The trickle-down effect from the iPhone Pro models also adds a bit of interest. The dynamic island from the 14 Pro certainly improves on the older notch design. The 48MP main camera captures more detail and the automatic portrait mode is a bit of a gamechanger. But the same regular iPhone caveats apply from previous years. No extended zoom is disappointing, no always-on display or high refresh rate for the screen is a miss and the body colour options are a bit too washed out and pale. None of these things are deal killers, but are features found on competitors of this price. The iPhone 15 is a good phone. It’s just not as exciting as it should be for the price. For that in an iPhone you need the 15 Pro, or switch and look at Android competitors.

Even though Apple has officially discontinued last year's Pro models, it's still ridiculously priced in India.

To conclude, I think it's important to look at the bigger picture of why this phone exists. This is not Apple's flagship, but the company doesn't really make mid-rangers either. There's never been an iPhone made of cheap materials, lack luster displays or mediocre cameras to meet a certain price point. That's why it's hard to sit here and argue with the $799 price tag, cause anyone price minded can pick from any of the older iPhones or even the SE. I could sit here and draw all the comparisons you want against Android in spec for price, but the reality is a lot of people, especially the younger demographic, doesn't care. It's a free market where anyone can pick what they want, and yet what I see on the streets most is iPhones, regardless of how much better the internals are on a OnePlus 11 for $100 less. Not really sure what it is that Apple does to drive that level of loyalty, but if anything I'd say that's what Android OEMs should copy.

Apple has made progress, but in some areas, they've either stalled or taken steps back, which overshadows their notable successes. In summary, Apple suggests that for a better display and the Always-on feature, you'll need to pay $200 more for the Pro version.

Just like its sister models iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 15 proved to be an extremely reliable camera in our testing, producing bright and vivid images when viewed on HDR screens. It particularly excelled in terms of exposure and color, in both photo and video modes. This is the first time Apple has used a Quad-Bayer image sensor in non-Pro iPhone models and, like on last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, on the iPhone 15 it helped enhance image quality and allowed for seamless 2x tele zooming. This resulted in a significant increase of the zoom score. The camera still lagged behind the Pro models in terms of zoom performance, though, due to the lack of a dedicated tele module and a smaller maximum aperture on the ultra-wide module.

Although corners can be hard to touch, and some smoothness is lacking, the device is reactive and accurate when zooming in the gallery and when playing video games. At the end of the day, the A16 is top-tier, and compared to anything Android has to offer, it’s super-powered. I don’t expect there to be many console-level games on iPhone for at least two to three more years, and even that’s being generous. Therefore, I think early adopting the A17 Pro chip isn’t worth it right now. At the end of the day, there’s a lot to love about the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. As far as I’m concerned, it’s last year’s iPhone 14 Pro with a nicer body. Even as a photographer, I barely use ProRaw, so living without it hasn’t been an enormous change. On the contrary, Automatic Portrait mode excites me more than ProRAW ever. For years, I’ve leaned towards the Pro iPhones, and this year’s video features are tempting, but now more than ever, I think most people who end up with an iPhone 15 will live the Pro iPhone experience without even knowing it.

My picks would be Blue and Pink because they look the most punchy and vivid. Like the Pro iPhones, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have contoured edges that make the phone easier and more comfortable to hold. They feel less squared off and less sharp at the edges. The Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are significantly more exciting than the iPhone 14 was - the iPhone 14 Plus was exciting because it was a new format so I'm, not counting that in this statement. The majority of the design remains the same for these standard models (which isn't a bad thing), but the additional of new colours, a new matte finish which is absolutely delightful and Dynamic Island make for fresh devices and ones that will deliver a different experience too. That's just surface level too. Add to that the upgrade in processor and upgrade in main camera sensor and things get even more interesting. The iPhone 14 wasn't all that exciting when it launched in 2022, but there's already more to be said for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, and that's before we've used them properly in the real world. First impressions suggest that if you don't opt for the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year, the standard iPhone models could definitely be the ones to buy.

I could see myself upgrading to either the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus because they now have more of the premium features Apple usually restricts to its Pro phones. There's still an iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 15 Pro divide, but the additions to the standard model make it feel less stark. And I’d be saving at least a couple hundred dollars with the iPhone 15 instead of the Pro. Dynamic Island, the upgraded camera sensor and a fast A16 Bionic chip may have been on the iPhone 14 Pro first, but that doesn't make them any less welcome on the iPhone 15 now. Throw in the telephoto capabilities and USB-C connectivity, and you have a winning flagship at a more attractive price.

If we were to look at the iPhone 15 from a birds'-eye view, it is easy to look at it as the iPhone 14 Pro but without the better display and telephoto camera. So, is it really worth the money? Well, if you manage to find a refurbished, second-hand, or some kind of sweet deal on last year's Pro model that brings its price to around $800, then you should probably go for that one. Not to mention that recent reports state the iPhone 15 might get a price hike compared to last year's base model, which would make it a tough recommendation if the 14 Pro is an option. If you cannot find a nice deal on the iPhone 14 Pro, however, then the iPhone 15 would still be a good upgrade. This statement is more valid if you own an iPhone 12 or older, but there are also meaningful improvements like the much better main camera and the Dynamic Island (if that is something you care about) that the iPhone 15 has to offer.
