Overall, I’m pretty pleased with the Predator 17X. It hangs right with the competition in performance and its easy-peasy 4GHz overclock ramps up performance nicely. Its fan acoustics are downright impressive, too. At stock speeds, this laptop doesn’t get annoyingly loud, and only with the CPU and GPU overclocked do the fans become noticeable. I can’t say the same for the Predator 17, which was loud under most loads.

It packs an outstanding cooling system that supports the Core i7-6820HK and GTX 980 while utilizing their full potential via overclocking. Unfortunately, there’s one downside in all of this and it can be considered as a big one for some users. The Predator 17X doesn’t have an iGPU (no Intel HD Graphics 530 inside the Core i7-6820HK) so this can mean only one thing – reduced battery life. If you recall, the standard version of the Predator 17 offered more than satisfying battery runtimes with the same 88.8Wh unit.

While the 17X retains that rigid and subjectively good looking chassis, it’s considerably heavier and bulkier. Ismét egy nagyon jó kis – vagyis nagy, nagyon nagy – notebookot tett le az asztalra az Acer, bár a Predator 17x azért lehetne még jobb is. Az összeszerelési minősége elsőrangú, de ez a marcona, nagyon gamer dizájn szerintünk európai szemmel nézve már egy kicsit sok. A hardver nem is lehetne erősebb, a tuningos Core i7 és a GeForce GTX 1080 asztali PC szintű teljesítményt nyújt, bőven van benne tartalék. Évekig nem kell majd aggódnia a játékok futtatása miatt annak, aki ezt az izompacsirtát választja. Adattároló rendszere, hangzása is kiváló, billentyűzetén lehetne még egy kicsit csiszolni. Kár, hogy G-Sync támogatású kijelzője csak 75 Hz-et tud.
