The Poco X2 feels more like a knee-jerk reaction to the competition rather than a product conceived through a thought-out product plan. The 120Hz refresh rate display is something really good to see in this segment, but as of now, there’s not much you can do with it. So buying this smartphone just for that display is moot. Having said that, the Snapdragon 730G at a price of Rs 15,999 is pretty amazing. The performance chops it brings to the table can be harnessed to support just about any game or app right now. The camera setup needs more polish which we hope gets improved with future updates, but it’s really the software and the menace of unsolicited notifications that mars the experience, to the extent that it becomes hard to recommend this phone to our readers. The Poco X2 ticks all the boxes in the spec-sheet, but ultimately fails to deliver a hassle-free experience.

As the name suggests, it comes with a NFC (near field communication) module that allows contactless payments and similar applications, but the X3 NFC has a lot more to offer, especially when considering its aggressive price point. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 732G chipset and features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate as well as a massive 5160 mAh battery with fast-charging capabilities. In the camera department, a 64 MP primary camera is coupled with a 13 MP ultra-wide. A 2 MP macro cam and a depth sensor for bokeh simulation complete the camera array. And I think with all the upgrades the overall price is still unchanged from X3 Pro so you can spring for the 256GB storage for just a little bit more compared to the base version. For that inconvenience, you get a lot of upgrades which should help make the X3 GT more future-proof. Poco X3 GT is an excellent smartphone with premium features at an attractive price. That sounds like a winning formula to me.

Kontra azonban a gyenge kamerás teljesítmény, valamint az Android 11, amire ki tudja, mikor érkezik frissítés, a cég ugyanis egyelőre semmilyen stratégiát nem közölt arról, hogyan és miként fogja a jövőben támogatni a telefont. Házon belül a közvetlen konkurenciát, a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G-t a Poco megeszi reggelire ár/érték arányban, hiszen a 6/64 GB-os Redmi áráért megkapjuk a 8/256 GB-os verziót Poco márkajellel. Ha a Xiaomi kínálatán kívül nézelődünk, a Realme épp most küldte be a 9 Prót a csatatérre gyengébb kijelzővel, de azonos hardverrel és papíron jobb kamerarendszerrel. Aztán ott van még a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is, ami lassan egy éves ugyan, de olyan korrekt csomagot ad szoftverben és hardverben is, hogy továbbra is megkerülhetetlen tényező a százezer környéki telefonok piacán. De hamarosan bővül még a kínálat új készülékekkel az Oppo Reno és a OnePlus Nord szériákból is, így bőven van miből választani.

Paired with stereo speakers, this phone can be a good pick for people who love binge-watching. Battery life and fast charging are also positives. The Snapdragon 695 5G SoC is a very capable processor, but it has limitations when it comes to gaming and video recording. MIUI on this phone could also use an update or two. If good camera performance and high-end gaming are priorities for you, I would suggest looking at the Realme 9 5G Speed Edition which costs just a bit more. There is nothing to hide, the POCO X4 Pro 5G is a huge improvement over the previous generation. The manufacturer has made a lot of valid upgrades, both in terms of components and the design itself. Therefore, its purchase is worth considering. Design aside (this is an individual matter), the POCO X4 Pro 5G has a lot to offer. The 120Hz refresh AMOLED display is bright, vivid, and very smooth, with one of the smallest camera cutouts making it almost perfect. Almost, because there is no HDR support, as well as adaptive refreshing. A strong touch is of course the 108MP camera, offering impressive detail and color reproduction in a well-lit environment, although the lack of OIS means night photography can be enhanced. The ultra-wide angle is handy. The main components of the POCO X4 Pro 5G are mid-range, which is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The smartphone works smoothly, although compared to its predecessor, it is slightly worse in terms of CPU and GPU performance.

Given the $330 price tag for the 6GB/128GB model, I’m more than happy to recommend the phone for consumers. It’s all of the things that I need in a device and I suspect all your typical user might need, too. It just happens to be priced lower than the competition. In a time when the Pixel line looks to have completely removed the headphone jack, I’m happy to see it’s present here. I also like the inclusion of NFC, an IR blaster, and the fingerprint reader in the side-mounted power button. Coupled with a fully customizable UI experience, the POCO X4 Pro 5G feels like something a little different, and dare I say, welcome. I wish the camera system were a bit better but I’m willing to admit that I’m being a tad critical. The average user may take no issue with what’s at play. Also, given that the phone is an unlocked global handset, the 5G support may not be true to what you’re currently getting from the US carriers. If you’re content with 4G LTE, or spend most of your time on Wi-Fi, you should be good to go.

The quality of shooting and performance, although not outstanding, are acceptable for the price category. Prices from 299 euros can also be called acceptable. Let’s round up: Poco X4 Pro 5G is Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G in a different case. Its advantage is the lower price. It’s not as powerful a Poco as we’ve been used to, but worth considering if you’re looking for a great display, good battery life, and good speakers. But if you are interested in power and gaming, as well as outstanding cameras, you definitely need to look for something else, there are many competitors.

So do I recommend this smartphone? At a price of PLN 1499 or PLN 1699 (and I would suggest the more expensive variant with 256 GB of memory and 8 GB RAM), it has a lot of competition. Against its background, it stands out with a cool design and a very good display. We will also be satisfied with the performance and stability, a great fingerprint reader, a good battery with a fast charger included, as well as a rich equipment - there is a minijack socket and a microSD slot, there is even a radio and an infrared transmitter. There are also two speakers, and they sound quite loud... too loud. If you value the privacy of your phone calls, POCO X4 Pro will not be for you. If that's okay with you, it might be a good buy... unless you need to an above-average camera. Night photos are simply poor, and movies can only be recorded in Full HD, which in 2022 is rather below average. In a budget building, I would still suffer from it, but the lack of 4K in a phone for a wheel and a half seems to be a significant shortcoming.

Úgy éreztük magunkat tavaly 150 és 200 ezer forint között, mint a bőség zavarától lemerevedő négylábú, amikor marokszámra dobják felé a jutalomfalatot – szépszámú volt a minőségi választék. A jó időknek azonban vége: a kategóriahatár 20%-kal kitolódott, az eddigi ár/érték bajnokok kifutásával pedig lassan örömteli lesz, hogy a Poco X4 GT 8/128 GB-os konfigurációban „csak” 170 rugóba kerül. Versenyképes és kitartó hardver jár ugyanis ennyiért ritka magas, 144 Hz-es képfrissítéssel – bár én ebből áldoztam volna, hogy IPS helyett AMOLED típusú legyen a panel. A Poco F4 épp ezt kínálja Snapdragon 870-nel, de drágábban – ráfizetéssel inkább a kezes méretű Xiaomi 12X lehet a befutó, vagy a Black Shark 4 tavalyról olcsóbban. A kameraszett a szükséges minimumot hozza, illetve a 1080p videó erőn felül teljesít, az éjjeli mód pedig megsegíti a középszerű ultraszéleset, csak a gyenge szenzorzoomért kár, és a 4K stabilizálás hiányáért.

On paper, the Poco X4 GT looks amazing. It ticks virtually every box for a mid-range phone, yet comes in at the very bottom end in terms of price. It has a flagship-level processor, 144Hz screen, big battery, fast charging, a good camera setup and dual-SIM 5G. You even get extras such as the headphone jack, stereo speakers and a 67W charger. But the reality isn’t quite as impressive. Yes, the Dimensity 8100 is hugely quick and the screen is a big improvement over the X3 GT’s. However, the cameras – overall – aren’t the best, there’s no (official) water-resistance rating, the stereo speakers aren’t well balanced and MIUI13 does lag from time to time. Maybe this will be fixed with software updates, but it disappointed me in my time with the phone. It therefore depends what you want from your phone. It could be a good option for anyone looking for an affordable gaming phone, but if you’d trade some performance for an OLED screen and better cameras, there are other options (including the aforementioned Poco X4 Pro 5G).

For RM1099 (6/128GB) and RM1199 (8/256GB), the X5 5G is competitively positioned in the mid-range segment. The combination of the tried-and-tested Snapdragon 695 5G SoC and the gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED panel makes this a solid device while keeping your bank account happy. It's excellent for everyday use, adequate for running popular mobile games and above all, has a long-lasting battery. If your budget is within this price range, the X5 5G is a sound purchase. But one thing you should consider is whether to spend more for the X5 Pro 5G (RM1299). With the higher-end sibling, you'd get a better screen, a faster 67W charging speed, a 108MP main camera, dual stereo speakers and a much faster Snapdragon 778G SoC. That's a lot of upgrades for an additional RM200! Another option is the realme 10 (RM999), which has comparable specs but is RM100 cheaper. However, you do have to settle for a 90Hz AMOLED display and no 5G connectivity.

To conclude this review, I believe the Poco X5 is an excellent value in the $200 price segment. Overall, the Poco X5 delivers a nicely well-rounded package and most of its missteps aren't uncommon for the class. An Android 13 update is likely in the making and video recording in the midrange in the last couple of years has been limited to 1080p (thanks, Qualcomm), though the Poco's shaky 1080p is a bit of letdown of its own. Possibly the most notable shortcoming of the Poco is its single speaker and that should tell you that it's a short and unremarkable cons list. On the other hand, we did enjoy the OLED display that's bright and capable of maintaining 120Hz for use cases some others refuse. And that high refresh rate might be taking a toll on battery life in some instances, but the Poco still manages respectable endurance, while also being quick to charge. The extensive set of small niceties doesn't hurt and the camera system doesn't disappoint in stills either. In summary, the Poco X5 is a solid phone. We'd say it lacks dealbreaking offenses and delivers at least average (but often better than) results in most areas. It may not ignite enthusiasm in any particular way, but that's not a requirement for a recommendation.

The POCO X5 Pro 5G does not come cheap, and the handset is the most-expensive X-series smartphone in India yet. But this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you as prices of the handsets across segments have been increasing lately. The X5 Pro 5G competes against the Realme 10 Pro Plus (review), with which it has a lot in common. However, the Realme smartphone runs Android 13 out of the box, which isn’t the case with the POCO phone. The X5 Pro also lags behind in the camera department, which has a 108MP HM2 primary sensor instead of the latest 108MP HM6 sensor. Having said that, the POCO X5 Pro does a better job than its counterpart in the performance and display departments. The handset also has a good audio setup to go with that beautiful screen. What’s more, the smartphone is more affordable than the Realme 10 Pro Plus. These things make the POCO X5 Pro 5G smartphone a good buy for its price, at least for now. The handset is selling in India at Rs 22,999 for the 6GB RAM variant, while the 8GB RAM option is priced at Rs 24,999.

Hibák is maradtak persze: ilyen a vízálló védelem hiánya (de azért a por- és cseppálló minősítés megvan), az elmaradt microSD bővítés, a középszerű ultraszéles vagy a felesleges makrókamera, de a szenzorzoom is lehetne jobb. Maradt továbbá a MIUI felületen rengeteg kéretlen app, a rendszer pedig Android 12-vel indít, szóval aligha kap frissebb verziót egyszer majd az Android 14-nél, és addig is várni kell a 13-ra. Kötelező megemlíteni a jelenleg erősebb, kifutó kulcsajánlatokat (Galaxy A52s, Realme GT Master), ám ezeknek az értékesítése lassan befejeződik és a Poco friss ajánlata válik az egyik legszimpatikusabb középkategóriás telefonná. A közelségérzékelős galibákat javítva pedig elfogytak a sorozat kritikus hibái, így maradt egy sokrétű, szimpatikus csomag és egy passzoló Mobilarena plecsni, amely eggyel jobb is lehet, ha kicsit csökken az ár.

To answer the question of whether the Poco X5 Pro has upgraded the device enough to live up to the standard set by its predecessor, I sadly have to say no.

If you compare other devices in the same price range, the POCO X5 Pro has a market advantage thanks to the value it delivers. But it doesn't have anything drastically better than its predecessor. Of course, this doesn't mean the phone isn't good. After all, we are happy with the stylish design, reduced bloatware, battery performance, heat dissipation, useful MIUI 14 features and photo quality (except for the macro mode). Xiaomi did well balancing the POCO X5 Pro as a mid-range device but with flagship performance. In fact, we think this may be the year mid-range phones are getting to that level. So, we might as well settle for these options, as flagship devices are getting more expensive. For comparison, we think the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G (read our review here) is a good challenger to the POCO X5 Pro.

This is especially true in 2023 because there aren’t as many value-for-money midrange devices these days compared to what we used to get not too long ago. Even Xiaomi’s own Redmi Note series which is all about “aggressive pricing” failed to deliver on that front this year because if you don’t consider the bank discounts and all, the new Redmi Note 12 lineup isn’t the usual bargain that we expected. Yes, the X5 Pro isn’t perfect by any means either, and I really wish POCO would come up with some original designs instead of resorting to simple re-brandings. But if you’re looking to buy a well-rounded midrange phone for some 22-23,000 Indian rupees right now, this looks like a good value; especially compared to the Redmi Note 12 Pro. Gamers, on the other hand, will have better luck with the Redmi K50i or the POCO F4. They bring a more powerful processor alongside an equally competent cooling system. The Poco X5 Pro gets most of the important things right for a 2023 mid-range smartphone. From the AMOLED display to the reliable Snapdragon 778G processor and a decent camera setup. Yes, the brand has skimped a little on design, but this does not detract the value the smartphone offers for the price.

The POCO X5 Pro is a phone device with modern software that's fully customizable. Moreover, it features enough memory, storage, and overall performance to keep me happy for another generation. There is a lot on offer in the POCO X5 Pro and I'm more than happy to recommend it. It's a worthy upgrade over its predecessor to be sure. The main problem this handset faces is that this price range begets a lot of stiff competition. But if you’re a Poco fan and were waiting to upgrade from the X3 or say an M series device, then sure you can go ahead and pick this.

We are glad that the Poco X series is back on track after the major downgrade the Poco X4 Pro was last year. The new Poco X5 Pro 5G improves almost everything - design, screen, performance, camera, battery life. There were a few things that bothered us, though none of them is really a deal-breaker, at least for us. First, the microSD slot has been retired, though the base model now has doubled storage capacity at 128GB. Then there is the gone FM radio. Finally, MIUI 14 on top of Android 12 looks just like MIUI 13 and none of the new obvious features are here. Maybe the under-the-hood optimizations did make it, maybe not. But it seems once again most of the new MIUI goodies are reserved for the Chinese MIUI ROM. The Poco X5 Pro 5G is a properly good sequel with minor shortcomings and that's why it gets our recommendation. It's one of the best phones in its price bracket and its specs sheet and the consistently good real-life performance will easily sway most of the potential buyers.

What I did not like is not having Android 13 out of the box, which is a big disappointment. The saving grace is that the software has less bloatware and is feature-rich. All in all, if you want a phone that offers good performance and is a decent overall package, the Poco X5 Pro 5G can certainly be considered. In fact, I would also recommend this over the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G which did not offer a very good software experience, despite it being on Android 13. There is also the X5 Pro 5G's cousin, the Redmi Note 12 Pro (First Impressions), which offers a similar software experience and features but with OIS for the main camera.

The screen doesn’t get as bright as the X4 Pro’s either, and the weird-feeling plastic back won’t be for everyone. Caveats aside, though, we enjoyed reviewing the Poco X5 Pro 5G. It’s one of those budget phones that doesn’t leave you feeling like you’re compromising on too many things, so if you can find it at the right price, we can certainly recommend you pick one up.

With any phone looking to squeeze as much as possible in, while keeping costs down for the buyer, there are always compromises to be made. Whether that's in design and build - like the X5 Pro - or in other areas. The trick is getting all the important things right so that you feel as though you're using a phone that performs really well day-to-day. That's exactly what Poco has managed to do with the X5 Pro. By skimping a little on design and build, it's managed to make a phone that - in many ways - acts like a more expensive device. It's got a big, vibrant screen with fast refresh rates, it's a smooth performer, has fast charging and at least one decent camera. Some data hangups and the lower-quality ultrawide and macro cameras do tarnish the experience a little, but when you're not spending buckets, those elements are almost a given. With a slightly more refined, durable design and more stripped-down software, it could be a stunning device. The end feeling though is one we've often felt with Poco: you do get a lot of phone for your money, and sometimes the ambition of packing in lots to a cheaper phone means a few quirks in other places. If you're happy with those, you'll love this phone.

Those looking for a super-value smartphone would be correct to look to Xiaomi’s Poco range and the X5 Pro is another good example. Not much has changed since the X4 Pro but that means there are lots of things to like here including a large 120Hz AMOLED display, speedy 67W charging and a solid 108Mp main camera. Upgrades include a new Snapdragon 778G chipset and a better 16Mp selfie camera, along with a more svelte design. It’s still plasticky though and in the west, MIUI still lags behind rivals for cleanliness and usability. If you can look past those things, then the X5 Pro has a lot to offer for not much money but it’s a shame that Xiaomi is only offering the more expensive 8/256GB model in the UK, stopping the phone from being a real steal. For £30 more, I’d rather take the Pixel 6a with its assurances, despite some technically lower specs.

The Poco X5 Pro 5G is one of the first budget smartphones to launch in 2023 but is it one of the best, and how does it compare vs the X4 Pro? So yeah, most of the phone specs are identical to the previous gen. The Poco X5 Pro serves up the same 108MP Samsung HM2 camera as before, with respectable performance as long as things don't get too dark. Battery size remains 5000mAh with 67W fast charging support. And the AMOLED display is yet another stunner, with 120Hz refresh. However, the Poco X5 Pro 5G does boost the performance vs the X4 Pro, offering a Snapdragon 778G chipset - same as the Nothing Phone. Gamers will enjoy a smooth, fluid experience on Genshin Impact, PubG and other big Android titles, complete with a dedicated gaming mode. This upgrade also means the Poco X5 Pro can shoot 4K video with the main camera, unlike the previous generation smartphone. So is this one of the best budget-friendly mid-range phones of 2023? We don't have a UK price at the time I shot this video, but I'll update once the release date etc is known!
