A Skylake XPS 13 9350 és a Kaby Lake XPS 13 9360 összehasonlításakor kialakult képhez hasonlóan, a Skylake GL502VM és a Kaby Lake GL502VM gyakorlatilag azonosak. Még a gamereknek is nehezére eshet valós teljesítménybeli előnyt találni a Kaby Lake-es, frissített eszközöknél, főleg azt figyelembe véve, hogy a legtöbb modern játék GPU-függő, és elsősorban nem a nyers CPU teljesítményre támaszkodnak. A Kaby Lake GL502VM-et szívesebben ajánlanánk, ha hosszabb üzemideje, hűvösebb működése, alacsonyabb fogyasztása, vagy kisebb ventilátorzaja visszatért volna az új CPU-nak köszönhetően. Sajnos, a tesztjeink egyáltalán nem ezt mutatják.

A GL502 széria így is erős középkategóriás játékgép azoknak a gamereknek, akik számára még szóba jöhet az MSI GE/GS sorozat, a HP Omen szériája, a Lenovo Y sorozata, vagy a Dell Inspiron Gaming gépei. Remélhetőleg az elkövetkező frissítések során az Asus több újdonságot is pakol a GL502 családba, nem csak a CPU-t cseréli, mint jelen esetben. Az olyan lehetőségek, mint a Thunderbolt 3, a 120 Hz/5 ms kijelzők, vagy jobb ventilátor/energiagazdálkodási beállításokat kínáló szoftverfrissítések sokat használnának a GL502VM-nek.

A GL502VM vonzó, viszonylag könnyű és strapabíró házzal rendelkezik. A szükségesnél erősebben barebone -nak tűnik, a vetélytársakhoz képest korlátozott hardverválasztékkal. A ventilátorzaj és a telep üzemideje különösen kiábrándító volt az Xotic PC tesztpéldányunkban, és az új Kaby Lake CPU szinte semmilyen előnyt nem biztosít játékok esetén a Skylake processzorral szemben.
